The main protagonists, consisting of Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao-Long. A team of talented first-year hunting duelists at Beacon Academy. They set out to save Vale from the unusual activities of The White Fang, while at the same learning more about several magical dragons that have chosen them for an unknown purpose.

• The Chosen One: Applies for Team RWBY as a whole, with each one being chosen as the wielders of each of the Dragons from Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V with Ruby being doubly chosen due to also being Black Rose Dragon's chosen Signer.
• Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: Part of their difficulty in figuring out The White Fang's plans, even knowing that someone is pulling Adam and Torchwick's strings, comes from assuming it should be a plan for some sort of traditional terrorist attack to advance the group's ideology in some manner. They can't imagine that the mastermind's (Cinder) true plan is to unleash The Grimm on the kingdom, something that is noted would make someone "an enemy of life itself" and do quite a bit of damage to the White Fang's cause.
• Mons as Characterization: Befitting a Yu-Gi-Oh! crossover, each of Team RWBY's decks, both in general and their ace monsters reflect their duelists's character strongly

• Berserk Button: Does not take kindly to duelists taking their issues out on their monsters. She flips out at Weiss for not using her Xyz Monsters during their duel due to her trauma surrounding her father, who forced her to learn the summoning style. She later furiously argues on Starving Venom and all Fusion Monsters' behalf when Blake tries to use them as The Scapegoat for Adam's worsening behavior, including Blake's own monsters.
• Grade Skipper: Thanks to Ruby's talent Ozpin gave her an invitation to start entrance into Beacon two years early, however somewhat deconstructed, as due to skipping two years of schooling, Ruby never learned the material they'd have covered even if her actual skills are up to par, hence her flunking the written test in her entrance exam and landing in Slifer Red as a result
• Green Thumb: Befitting her name, Ruby's deck is full of plant-type monsters, and her aces are the plant-like Black Rose Dragon and Starve Venom Fusion Dragon
• The Hero: Has an idealized vision of what a hunting duelist should be and is determined to live up to that image, despite being aware of some of the real-life complications of doing so. Notably, she risks her own life to save Junior's from Lil' Miss Malachite, despite Junior trying to kill Yang not even twenty minutes ago.
• Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Ozpin lets her into Beacon early out of fear of her undergoing such a situation if she remains at Signal. With Yang graduating, there's no one left who can truly challenge her, and he doesn't want her growing complacent. In a twist, while Ruby is unaware of this motive, she is ecstatic to have this situation averted for her when she gets to Beacon. Her canon worries about people thinking that she's "the bee's knees" disappear after seeing Yang and Pyrrha's turbo duel and coming to believe being "the bee's knees" is the "normal knees" of Beacon, being calmed by not sticking out.

• Teen Genius: Enters Beacon capable of both Synchro and Xyz Summoning with full aura bodies, where most students can't successfully use even one until the end of their first year. Even among her exceedingly talented friend group, Weiss is the only one capable of using both difficult styles.

• The Ace: Even among her very skilled team, Yang is constantly referred to as the strongest duelist. She's the first duelist to ever publicly bring Pyrrha's life points down below half and puts a lot of focus into being able to get her team out of whatever mess they get in, either physical or emotional.
• Dragons Are Demonic: Her ace monster, Hot Red Dragon Archfiend is a demonic dragon of immense power, and her closest success in replicating her father's Red Dragon Archfiend

• The Ace: The undisputed strongest duelist in Team JNPR, and likely the rest of Beacon's first years and 4-time winner of Mistral's biggest tournaments, with none of her opponents being able to bring down her life points below half.

• Overshadowed by Awesome: As noted by Yang after the tag duel between herself and Blake vs Ren and Nora, had Ren been on any other team except Pyrrha's, chances were he'd be the undisputed team ace.
